Recording...

It’s finally sunny where I live. Yes, I live in CA and it’s summertime but just look at the picture in my last blog post and that is what it’s been like in my neck of the woods since mid-July until this week.

I finally set up a sound booth of sorts in my tiny place. And hooked up one of the new microphones I got. Hopefully I can learn Audition right away and get some demo reels going. I wish it hadn’t taken me this long to get started, but I guess I was trying to be too perfectionistic again and wait for the right moment. But better late than never.

I finally got my insurance situation settled as well. Took long enough, but at least I’m covered again.

Anyway. I think that’s enough for now.

Fog of war...

I know this is going to sound really vague, but the path hasn’t been very clear as of late. I honestly don’t feel like journaling at the moment, but I committed to keeping record here. All I’ll say for now is that there’s a lot of work-in-progress, and a lot of distractions as well. The only other thing I really have to say at the moment is that I’m very grateful for the growth I’ve experienced with my channel, however small, and it’s been an enjoyable endeavor. I’m making an effort to sell the last of my t-shirt inventory, even if I have to use channels I’d rather not. Anyway hopefully by the time I write another monthly update things will be better.

Back into social...

Another quick update, nothing major.

I delayed my goal of having a home “studio” setup by end of last month. I really want to do it right so I’m doing more research and waiting until I can afford better equipment. But I’ve been reading the recommended book on voice acting anyway. I may try classes at some point if money gets even better…

I’m not sure I want to find another 9-5 job… yet. While I’ve seen a lot of openings I qualify for, nothing has really “spoken” to me. I know that’s really fluffy sounding but it’s just where I’m at right now.

Social media is not something I was looking to get back into. But I recently starting posting on X (twitter) of all places. It hasn’t been that bad since it’s for my gaming channel so nothing personal on there. But I recognized some patterns of behavior that don’t sit well with me… I’ll maybe make a vlog to get it off my chest or something.
