Long COVID stare O_O
A young shark.
About Me (Post-Pandemic)
My lifelong love for aesthetics is tempered by a deep appreciation for all facets of the human condition, and I find “beauty” even in the ugliest of situations.
Musically, my tastes encompass a veritable “garbage plate” of different artists and genres. I grew up listening to hip-hop in the 90s and early 2000s. But I have at least one favorite song in just about every genre of music. Besides hip-hop I enjoy all varieties of electronica (especially Eurobeat). I also listen to oldies, R&B, Enka, OPM, classical, country, pop, city-pop, vaporwave, future funk, J-pop/rock, rock (many varieties), synthwave, jazz, acoustic (especially traditional cultural instrumentals), and every flavor of lo-fi beats you can imagine.
Honestly, ever since I left the industry I no longer really keep up with fashion. My experience with the COVID lockdown and transitioning to remote work played a part in that. But I still appreciate style, self-expression through clothing, and good craftsmanship. Previously, I had a wide range of influences from Karl Lagerfeld to BAPE.
Artistically, if I am being 100% honest my greatest influence is anime ^^; Second biggest is probably Art Nouveau, particularly artists like Alphonse Mucha. And even though I don’t try to emulate the style of the Renaissance masters, I try to emulate their usage of weaving symbolism into their works.
Often, I find my interests and influences at odds or paradoxical in nature. Ultimately, I’ve chalked it up to being a modern-day renaissance man.
About Me (Pre-Pandemic)
Art has been a way of life for me since I can remember. It first started with my hostile takeover of the dining table in the breakfast nook of my childhood home; transforming it into my own illustration studio. I did however, concede some space to my mother for her sewing.
Getting into design felt like the next logical step as an artist, marrying aesthetic with functional purpose. I flirted with different disciplines until I found I was most interested in the design of clothing and accessories, which lead me to study fashion at the Academy of Art in San Francisco.
