Experimenting in different art forms and mediums can unlock new possibilities during the brainstorming process. The inspiration for this shoe collection came about during a period of learning about metal art and jewelry fabrication. Visiting a gallery specializing in metal sculpture helped to expand the concept even further. Lastly, the gothic and occult elements came from a jewelry magazine featuring heavily gothic-inspired pieces. 

Vanitas was a genre of still life painting popularized in the 16th and 17th centuries, particularly in the Low Countries. It focused on the impermanence and futility of earthly life and material pursuits. Ironically, this collection is all about the bling.
